"Birthday Bash for Harry Strutters!
Once upon a time, well, 1968 to be precise, a band was born called "Harry Strutters". It was then described as a bunch of "Twenties-style clown-musicians" and for those who have supported the band over the decades you will know that fine jazz music combined with mad cap mayhem has continued to be the staple diet of this unique selection of musicians.
Yes, its official, The Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm Orchestra is celebrating it's 40th Birthday and will be holding a special Birthday Extravaganza at the Ropetackle Centre.
There will be a matinee performance at 2.30pm and an evening performance at 8pm.
Maurice Dennis, the band leader said he "wants to celebrate 40 years as thats quite an achievement for any band" He continues "we wanted a south coast venue as that's where the Harry Strutters fans are located and that makes it easy for our fans to come along and celebrate 40 years with us".
The band will be accompanied by vocalists Miss Julie Horton, Mike (Megs) Etherington, Tony Jacobs and of course Jim Heath complete with his "No Fishing" comedy routine as well as dancing from some dancers from The Jiving Lindy Hoppers.
